If you wish to request representation by the Seward County Public Defender, you must meet certain criteria.  Criteria for court appointed counsel is as follows:

1. You must be charged with a crime in Seward County and have a pending court case.  Only criminal matters qualify for the services of the Public Defender.
2. You must complete a Financial Affidavit and file it with the County Court.  The County Court is located in the Seward Courthouse on the third floor or by mail to P.O. Box 37, Seward, NE 68434.  You will be notified by the County Court if you qualify for services of the Public Defender.
3. Please note that the Public Defender will not consult with you regarding any legal matters without an order of appointment.
